Vorosilovgrad Higher Military Aviation College MiG-21SMT Fishbed-K air traffic control trainer aircraft at the Bagerovo airport, Crimea
The 228th air traffic control trainer regiment helped for air traffic controller of the Vorosilovgrad Higher Military Aviation College with longer range and high speed MiG-21SMT Fishbed-K fighter type. The 228th Training Air Regiment received the second-hand MiG-21SMT type from 296th Fighter-Bomber Air Regiment at Altenburg-Nobitz airport, Eastern Germany in 1983.
The regiment used slowly L-29 Delfin trainer aircraft too.
At the end of the eighties, the MiG-21SMT Fishbed-K of the 228th Training Air Regiment was replaced by second-hand MiG-23MLD Flogger-K. The new type arrived from 168th Fighter Air Regiment. These MiG-23MLD aircrafts fought in Afghanistan between 1987 and 1988.
