MiG-27 Flogger armed with eighteen bombs
in Soviet-Chinese border.

The 73rd Tactical Air Army received advanced fighter-bomber aircraft in the late seventies. Similar to other air armies MiG-27s and Su-17s were planned to be used here. But the 73rd Tactical Air Army's leaders wanted to have a single type. Therefore, the Su-17 Fitter-Cs were transferred to the 49th Tactical Air Army's 217th fighter-bomber air regiment. The 73rd Tactical Air Army's both fighter-bomber regiments received the basic MiG-27 Flogger-D type from 1979.

In the pictures below, the 129th regiment's basic version MiG-27 Flogger-Ds can be seen in 1982. They practised the attack of the Chinese People's Army units with bombs and cannon from Taldy Kurgan Airport.
